Gloria Wilcox Tournament A Winner

Sunny skies, a great green and wonderful play were all part of the two day Gloria Wilcox Club Tournament held in Parksville on September 16th and 17th.  Sixteen teams came out to play and their skills were  definitely put to the test on our green.

On the women’s side it was Karen Perrin’s  team  with Miriam Gunn and Sharyn O’Reilly coming in first, then Joey Merrell’s. team with Laurel Witzer and Joan Brenner.   Rounding out the top three was Diane Cruickshank’s hard working team.

Over on the men’s side, Geoff Holland, Clive Arthorne and Randy Hall were victorious.   This is the second time that Geoff Holland will have his name engraved on the Gloria Wilcox plaque.   Bob Allaby’s team came second and third place went to the Barry Knowles team.

In the Salmon Can Trophy event,  which is always a wrap up to the Gloria Wilcox Tournament, it was the men who were once again  the winners.   The crowd was raucous and cheered /jeered whenever necessary, but history was once again on the men’s side, with the men narrowly beating out the women to hoist the well-loved  and incredibly inexpensive Salmon Can Trophy.

Once again, many thanks to all who participated, who came out to watch, the grounds crew who did a great job this year, the bartenders, kitchen,  games people,  photographers and whoever else that I may have missed for this event.
