Saying Goodbye to the Passing of Our Friend and Club Member – Jack Lawrence

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this message.  Jack Lawrence, who has been a member of our club since 2003,  passed away on Thursday afternoon, August 20th.  We send our condolences to Debbie and her two sons, Mark and Duane, and his wife Theresa.

Jack loved lawn bowling and did it up to a couple of years ago when it became too much for him.  His years with the club were very busy ones.  He was the Greens Keeper for ten years and was religious at looking after it.  He would roll the grass before a tournament and in between games.  He knew his green and looked after it.  He played regularly and participated in tournaments.  He liked being on the green as much as he could one way or the other.  We have winter activities as you all know.  He and Debbie ran the Mahjong on Monday nights for many years.  He loved playing card games like Canasta and Crib.  Wednesday afternoons he would be there to play Crib and would often win.  He always had something to say and always had a smile on his face.  He will be remembered and sadly missed by all the members of the club who knew him.
