Parksville Team Places in Scotch Pairs Tournament in Courtenay
June 2, 2025
Parksville Lawn Bowling Club
It was a tale of weather opposites in Courtenay this weekend when the club hosted its annual Scotch Pairs Tournament. Saturday morning’s early draw was played in a torrential downpour, with players having to adjust for the conditions. Saturday afternoon was slightly better, with the sun daring to peak out. Sunday was a dream for bowlers as the clouds were few, winds light and the green playing as they should.
On the green, it was the home team of Henri Saucier and Heather Devine taking first place. Port Alberni’s team of Neal Wilson and Derek Burke took second. Parksville’s Ken and Carol Bucyk came in third. Rounding out the winners were the Courtenay teams of Dean Penny and Shelley McCollom in fourth and Peter Harding and Carole Nelson earning fifth.
Many thanks to all the people who made the tournament a success. The pierogi lunch on Saturday and sandwiches on Sunday were a real treat, too.
Next up on the calendar for play is the Men’s and Women’s Triples which takes place in Qualicum Beach June 7 & 8. This event is sponsored by the good folks at Quality Foods.
