Open House Days Set for Parksville Lawn Bowling Club
It’s time to get “bowled over” and experience the fun and challenge of lawn bowling.
The Parksville Lawn Bowling Club is ready to welcome interested and prospective new members to the club on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21st between 1:00 and 3:00 pm at its club located at 149 E. Stanford.
Amazing videos from Australia, New Zealand or England on YouTube, demonstrate why people love the challenge of the game. It combines aspects of curling, golf and chess on a green with a target that doesn’t stay in place and with bowls that are more elliptical than round. It’s a low-impact sport which provides mental, social and physical benefits in a warm and welcoming atmosphere as well as being a sport for almost any age.
Interested participants are asked to wear flat soled shoes/ runners and comfortable clothes. While out on the green, participants will roll a few bowls, get a sense of the game and certified coaches will be on hand to answer questions about the sport.
The club will officially kick off the lawn bowling season on April 28th. Markey Pellow, a member of the club since its inception 29 years ago, will roll the first bowl of the season.
