Grounds Help

Grounds Maintenance and Volunteer Help
Contrary to general opinion, the outside gardeners were only hired to perform labour intensive activities that are physically challenging for our membership.
To date, they have weeded all of the perimeter rock and plant areas, spread bark mulch and removed turf under the Japanese Maple to simplify mowing. Their next project is the pruning of all bushes around the green and building to remove spring growth.
Their efforts have reduced the maintenance needed to a minimal amount, but volunteer help is still needed for continuing grass maintenance, weeding, and dead heading.
In addition to gardening, we also have some painting projects including:
- South east side of clubhouse exterior and fasciae.
- Yellow safety markings.
- Refinish the PLBC signs on the south side of the clubhouse and above the rear double door.
- Paint and brushes are available. Please contact Andrew for more information
Please join us on Monday mornings between 7.30 – 9.00 am to help out. We have tools and equipment to help, and provide coffee and maybe cakes and cookies. Please bring your own gloves.
One other item is the repair of lower portions of some of the new scoreboards. The ¾” pvc pipe on some has snapped and these are currently held together with tape. My thoughts are that ¾” dowelling could repair/replace the broken parts and avoid rebuilding the whole board, but I am sure there is someone out there with a better solution. Please let me know if you want to tackle this.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Andrew Adamson, Grounds Director
