Parksville Lawn Bowling Club

Well, that was a warm one!!!  This past weekend,  (July 12 & 13),  the Parksville Lawn Bowling Club hosted its  Annual  Tenderfoot Open Mixed Triples tournament sponsored by Urban Edge Hair Group.      The  Tenderfoot Triples Tournament focuses on  players with three or less years of lawn bowling experience.  As well, one player in on each team must be a novice.   A full slate of sixteen teams competed from the zone and the top three teams came from outside our club.

First place went to the Nanaimo team of Grady Work, Doug Drummond and Kellie Rice.    The Nanaimo team of Lezlie Howe, Brian Howe and David Hughes  took second.  Rounding out the top three was the Qualicum Beach triples team of Shelley Howieson, Colin Lloyd and Jeff McEwen.

A very big thank you goes out to Urban Edge for  the sponsoring of this triples event.  Also, a big shout out to our kitchen and bar staff, the set-up crew,  games committee, grounds keepers,  Chuck Benson and his camera,  as well as  the gallery who came out with umbrellas and sunscreen for both days.  Thank you to the tenderoot and novice players who gave it their all for this event.

If you’re looking for a road trip this coming weekend,  the Port Alberni  club is hosting the Ramsay Lampman Rhodes Mixed Triples Tournament.  Port Alberni is located in the valley and has very scenic views of Mount Arrowsmith (the backside) and some really great restaurants.  The Port Alberni club has a really great vibe AND  it’s air conditioned, too.  See you on the green.
