Silent Auction Update

September 28th last day of bowling for 2025 and awards night will also be the silent auction with items supplied by our club members.

Thank you for the donations which I hope will all be received by September 23 in order to get the paper work done.  Your attention to this is sincerely appreciated.

Hoping that you will consider this an opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping, as we have some very desirable donations

Closing Day Info

Greetings to all lawn bowlers!

We are coming to a close of another lawn bowling season.  Miriam is working hard to provide some amazing silent auction gift baskets. This will add something extra special to our closing!

The kitchen is hoping most everyone will come on September 28th with a small appetizer to share.

There will be a charge of $5.00 per week for those requiring lessons. If you  would like to learn to play Chinese Mahjong, you are encouraged to come for lessons. This club is open to non-members, so if you have friends or neighbours who would like to play, please pass the invitation on to them. Please check the PLBC website calendar for further details.  Any past members who would like to come play those evenings are welcome to do so on an informal basis at the regular rate of $2.00.

Canada Day Activities at the Club- CHAMPS Program is the winner

We had a fantastic turnout for our Canada Fun Day.  We had 64 club members  who  turned out in all shades of red and white to celebrate our nation’s big birthday, and to support  the CHAMPS  Program of Canada. This charity event helps to raise money for devices need for child amputees in our area.   This year, our  club did not disappoint, raising over $1320.00 for the cause.  Darevin from CHAMPS received the cheque from club president, Rob Matthews.  First place bragging rights went to the team of Tex Gooding, Brian Larkin and Anne Gudbranson and Anne Pelton.  Second place  a.k.a. the Please Come Back Award went to Gary Steele, Betty Nordick, Dave Thomson and David Stamp.

Thank you to everyone who made this such a happy, fun filled and supportive day for the CHAMPS Program.

Food for Thought

Hello all members,

I took on as social director last November at the AGM.  I fully intend on finishing this lawn bowling year, but because of personal health issues with Don, I feel I need to step down.

I will do my best to finish this year out, but if there is anyone that has the time to fill in next year that would be wonderful!

Since the kitchen has been open for meals again, the socializing has increased immensely!  I can certainly help in any way on the side.

This club thrives on social get together.  Please give it a thought to step up.

Sincerely to all,

Marg

Bar Update

Thursday Bar Closing

Due to poor attendance after Thursday afternoon draws the bar will no longer be open after Thursday draws starting in July.  In its place we will begin offering bar service after the Wednesday afternoon draw to see if there is more interest.  I invite you all to stay afterwards and socialize with your fellow members.

Bill Burgess
Bar Manager

Community Appreciation Mornings at the Club

Our club will be featuring Community Appreciation mornings every Friday beginning June 6th to July 4th. During that time, we will be offering a FREE lawn bowling lesson to interested participants.  This offer is being extended to ages 10+ and will give kids AND  adults an opportunity to experience the  fun and basics of the game.  Please wear flat soled shoes  and comfortable clothes.    We supply the bowls…you supply the fun.  Come and see why lawn bowling is a great sport for almost any age.
