2023 Singles Competition

Once again it is time to start thinking about the Singles competition for PLBC.  This year, it will be held in Port Alberni Sept 2-3.

The Format

A sign-up sheet will be placed on the notice board for teams to sign up for the competition on June 6, and will remain available until June 20.

.

Depending on the number to sign up, the teams will either play all contenders, or if the numbers permit, they will be divided into groups to play a round-robin competition.

***Teams will then be provided with the names of the other teams they must play.

They must arrange their own games, along with markers, and provide the results to the Games committee, by 22 July.

These results will then be used to determine which teams will advance to a play-down on 12/13 August, if it is required. ***

(If there is only one group, with all teams playing each other, the winners will be determined by the top team of the single group, and no final games will be required.)

Details of play

Games will be to 18 points with a 2 hour time limit.

If the game is not finished within the time limit no jack may be thrown after the time is up unless the conditions of play state otherwise.

Markers for the preliminary games will be responsible for watching the time, and informing players  at 1 hour and 50 minutes that their time is almost up.

They Need More Men in Courtenay – Lawn Bowlers, That Is!!!

Heads up to all the men of the Parksville Lawn Bowling Club, because this invitation is for you!!  The Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club is looking for more teams for the upcoming Men’s Pairs Tournament being sponsored this year by Connect Hearing on June 23-25.   There will be excellent prize money, which should be around $800.00 for 1st place if they can get a full 16 team roster.  It’s a great format of round robin to move from the semis to the finals.   Brian Scherr, games chair, states that “You are going to enjoy the great competition and format,” and he asks that you contact him at games@courtenaylbc.com.

Let’s get out there, Parksville,  support  our island clubs and have fun at this very special event, as well.
