Updates on Leagues, Draws, Fun Day Events & Tournaments

Leagues, Draws, Club Fun Day Events and Tournaments

I hope you are all settling in to the outdoor season of bowling and enjoying some great camaraderie with your fellow bowlers.

Our Spring Leagues are well underway.  The participants have enjoyed excellent weather conditions this Spring.  The final week of the Spring Leagues is June 2.  There will be trophies, bag tags and some prize monies awarded to the top Teams in Mixed Triples, Cutthroat, Mens’ Pairs and Ladies Pairs.  If you would like to watch the final games they will be played June 3 @ 6:00 pm (Mixed Triples), June 4 @ 9:30 am (Cutthroat) and June 5 @ 6:00 pm (Mens’ and Ladies Pairs).

The second set of Leagues have been posted on the Club’s Calendar and will include a Mixed Pairs League starting on the evening of June 17 (6:00 pm) and a Cutthroat League starting on the evening of June 19 (6:00 pm).  Each league will run for 4 weeks.  The winners of the Mixed Pairs League will advance to the District Pairs Finals to be held in September at our Club.  Sign up for the leagues will start on June 1 and run to June 10 or until the leagues are full. Please click on the first day of the respective events (June 17 and 19) for further league and sign up information.

Thank you to all the Draw Masters who are leading the Draws.  The Tuesday morning 8 end Draw has been exceptionally well attended!  The attendance numbers for all the Draws are being recorded and are being reviewed. In June some of our Draws may undergo some minor changes.  Please be sure to visit the Club Calendar before heading out to a Draw to ensure it is the right amount of ends you are seeking. As always, suggestions are always welcome.

You may notice some visiting bowlers during some upcoming draws. An agreement has been reached between Parksville and Qualicum to allow for members of each Club to attend the other Club’s draws (up to a couple of times per week).  Further information on this will be posted on our website soon.

Thank you to Kathleen and Trevor Motley for overseeing the Bowlympics day on May 19.  The rain held off and a fun time was had by all.
Karen Perrin will oversee the next Fun Day to be held on July 1.  We will have a special guest in attendance as we recognize and raise funds for the War Amps. More details on this event will communicated at a later date.

PLBC will be hosting the Hearing Life Mixed Pairs Open Tournament on June 14 and 15.  Please come out to watch and encourage bowlers from across our District as they play in this returning Tournament.

The first Club Tournament of 2025 will be on June 25 and 26.  The format of the tournament will be Triples – Team of Chance. Registration will open on June 2 and run to June 17.  When registering please sign up for one position only.  Further details of the event can be found by visiting the Club Calendar and clicking on the event on June 25.

Have a great day!

Draws!

Afternoon draws will take place from April 22 – 25.  Tags in at 12:45 for 1:00 draws.  Yes this is before Opening Day.  However, with the great weather and our Greens being in good condition we thought we would get those bowls rolling!!  The draws will be organized by some seasoned and some not seasoned Draw Masters.  Please bring your patience along with your willingness to help organize the rinks.  The Greenskeeper has advised that GREEN MATS ARE MANDATORY AT THIS TIME.

See you all soon.
