Ace photographer Chuck Benson recently took this wonderful photo of our effervescent friend and lawn bowling pro, Mavis Gooding. She had just jumped out of a plane and was sailing along on the thermals with her parachute and her instructor. All this on the occasion of her 80th birthday. All we can say is “Congratulations, Mavis, on a jump well done, and a very Happy Birthday to you.”

If you have been organizing in the past one of the many club winter activities or are interested in organizing them please contact Trevor Motley before the next board meeting on September 16. President@parksvillelawnbowlingclub.com

We are now in the midst of our bowling season and our annual general meeting seems far away. However, as we are enjoying the activities and social interactions of our club, it is also the logical time to consider the management responsibilities that make our club the success that it is. Our Board of Directors collectively undertakes the responsibilities and decisions that are necessary to maintain the strength and continuity of that success.
The reason for this letter to you all is to emphasize that the Board of Directors is made up of club members. Members who are willing to step up and donate some of their time and experience to assist in managing the needed decisions and guidance. In November, at our annual meeting we shall need to fill those positions for the coming year.
The Nominations Committee will like to know of any club members who are interested in serving on the Board of Directors now, or, just as importantly, interested in being a potential candidate in a following year and finding out from the existing executive membership what is involved.
The Board of Directors also depends on the contribution of a large group of members with a variety of interests and responsibilities. Within a club the size of our own there will be an amazing variety of talent and experience to draw from. There is a lot of satisfaction in being part of the club’s activities. However you would like to be involved, there will be opportunities.
Below are the positions needed to be filled in November. Some will have incumbent members willing to continue, others waiting for nominees. Please let the Nomination Committee members (Trevor Motley, Martin Fereday, Geoff Holland) know of any interest or questions you may have over the next few weeks. Remember that everyone who is now, or has been involved in the club’s management also started with making the first decision. “I would like to help”.
The Club will no longer be using the MMM email. Please send any future requests for email distribution or updates to the website to updates@parksvillelawnbowlingclub.com
